About Us

The History of The Property

Situated on 365 acres of farmland, forest, and  pastures, the SkyRidge Trails Campground property had been historically used for timber harvesting and charcoal production. In fact, remnants of the nearly 200 year old charcoal pits still can be found along the many trails and valleys across the property. In more recent times this property has been used for agriculture and for the  raising livestock. Portions of this property continue to be used for agricultural production by the neighboring Klug Farm to this day.

An Amazing Transformation...

Over the course of 2 years, we had the opportunity to work with an amazing team of designers, engineers, architects, and contractors. Through all the trials and tribulations, the red tape and the setbacks, our dream steadily inched closer and closer to becoming our reality.
We welcome you all to join us as we continue to build on what we
have started, and hope you are able to enjoy this ride along with us!

About The Owners...

Husband and wife team, Dan Mahieu and Lelah Campo purchased the nearby Cozy Hills Campground in Bantam, CT in 2014 and, after many successful years of operation, purchased this property in 2022 with the dream of transforming this beautiful and unique property into a one-of-a-kind family campground.

Lelah is the lead at SkyRidge Trails, and has experience in business ownership, construction, and event planning that all suit campground ownership well! Originally from California, Lelah has lived in Connecticut for over 30 years. She ran a statewide trade association for construction companies for 10 years, and before that was an owner in a family concrete business. She has been recognized for her business experience, winning the HBJ 40 under 40, and Construction Industry Person of the Year. Dan has spent most of his life in the Litchfield area and for thirty years has been a part of the electrical construction industry and is now a partner in a local firm. He does occasionally get drafted for electrical repairs, and if asked, tells campers he’s just the maintenance guy! Dan also served the neighboring town of Litchfield for twenty years as a volunteer fire person and on the Capital Improvement Commission. Together they have three children and one grandchild, and they look forward to years of ownership at SkyRidge Trails with plans of expansion and new amenities!
